New movies-rant and Corpse Bride
I was down at the DVD-store I used to work at last wednesday and got myself some new movies and DVD-boxes.
I bought:
- Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride
- The Wire - Season 1
- Family Guy - Vol 3 (season 4)
- Pusher
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
- Batman
- Batman Returns
My first thought is that I probably use too much money on DVDs, but I’m a movie entusiast and I don’t use much money on other things (except for food, music and random crap I don’t need).
I’ve seen Batman and Batman Returns many many times before. Even though they are not that good I find them quite enjoyable and I felt like I needed those two movies in my collection along with Batman Begins.
Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride was beautiful and very much like I expected. It is about a young man named Victor (Johnny Depp) who is forced to marry Victora (Emily Watson), a girl he’s never met before. Fortunaltely fate has it so that they fall in love at the very instant they see eachother and everything should’ve been well if it hadn’t been for the weddingrehearsal and Victors less fortunate meeting with the Corpse Bride (Helena Bonham Carter). It’s a sweet and morbid lovestory, amusing characters and it had beautiful animation and scenes. The music of Danny Elfman is as always perfect for Tim Burton’s work. I don’t think it’s nescessary to say anything about Johnny Depp, he delivers in every movie he’s in. Helena Bonham Carter (Carnivale) did a great voice as the Corpse Bride and Emily Watson (Equilibrium) was as good as perfect for the role as Victoria, the young girl in love with Victor. It’s not Tim Burton’s best (that would in my opinion be Edward Scissorhands), but it’s among one of his best along with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
I haven’t started to watch The Wire yet. I’ve only heard positive things. It’s supposed to be better than The Shield and more like The Sopranos. Looking forward to it! I haven’t had the chance to see Pusher yet either, but people have tried to kill me because I haven’t. So I guess it’s a good movie.
I watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the cinema a good while ago. I thought it was very funny and it’s definitely worth having in one’s collection!
You guys probably knows all about Family Guy from before so I won’t bother writing too much about it except for: SEASON 4 FUCKING ROCKS!
